Classics in a new guise.

Derick and SoulNL is a collective of experienced musicians playing Dutch classics

inspired by the American Soul and Funk tradition with influences from contemporary Hip-Hop and R&B.

With this crossover of musical genres, SoulNL has created a unique sound and has given the Netherlands a new sound.

As befits true Soul, singer and saxophonist Derick Stadwijk isn’t just about the music.

SoulNL represents a way of thinking, a way of life, and adding color to a black-and-white society.

3SOME is a fusion trio formed by Davide Rasetti (keys & saxophone), Daan Arets (drums) and Gianluca Calò (bass). 3SOME’s music transcends genres, blending individual influences into a unique sound that merges progressive jazz with elements of funk and world music.

The three musicians met in the music scene of Rotterdam in the summer of 2022. They quickly noticed their musical connection and just a few months later, they managed to record their first album “TO GO UP”, under the name of the Davide Rasetti TRIO. The album was released during their Ital tour in September 2023. During this tour, the trio participated in a two-week artistic residency, an experience that changed the direction of the band. This period of intensive collaboration led to the collective writing of a whole new repertoire and defined the trio’s new and unique identity The formation of this new identity inspired a bold decision: changing the name from “Davide Rasetti TRIO” to “3SOME”.

This new name underlines the essence of their music; a sonic creature that is born through communion and intense collaboration between the three artists. 3SOME recently released their new singles “Dirty” and “Shady” and the new single AAA was published in May 2025.

LAURA BEATRIZ – THE VOICE BEHIND THE KEYS

Laura Beatriz is a Cuban pianist, composer, and bandleader who blends Afro-Cuban roots with modern jazz. Trained from age four and guided by her father, Peruchín, she now leads Beatriz from Rotterdam with a bold, soulful sound.

In the 60’s a lot of good music came from Cuba, big many Styles to dance and live life to. Joe Cuba, baseball player , percussionist was inspired by this music in many was. At that time a lot of music was played in big bands but he started to reach the same vibe in smaller settings, he also brought other instruments the setting like vibraphones. He also added some boogaloo to it and here we have a kind of sound we will call Latin Soul , very warm and funky.

Meanwhile

Meanwhile in the 80’s a very nice men from Italy started to hit the drums , Just random he touches his rhythmic soul to Latin Groove . Later he got also to Cuba to get by the music culture and study the sound of there. Later he started to play in Salsa band in the 90’s allover the world and became a true master of percussion who can also sing very well.

Rotterdam 2025

Some crazy inspired Codarts students came to study and already already a lot of latin flavours to NL. They also were heavenly inspired by the Joe Cuba Sound and brought the idea of doing tributes to the sound. Lets ask a teacher of mine said Gio, the main men on percussion. The energy was so great, Dizzy, the location was sold out 2 times with the show. On the agenda again at the 18th of January is the show of the Joe Cuba Legacy by Valter Paiola.
